Ceremonial Act on July 15, 2025, marking the 80th anniversary of the re-establishment of the Israelitische Kultusgemeinde München und Oberbayern (Israelite Religious Community of Munich and Upper Bavaria) on July 15, 1945, as well as the 40-year presidency of Dr. h.c. mult. Charlotte Knobloch
A special evening at the Jewish Center on St.-Jakobs-Platz in Munich: I had the honor of photographically documenting the ceremonial act celebrating Charlotte Knobloch’s 40th anniversary as President of the Israelitische Kultusgemeinde München und Oberbayern – at the same time, the IKG’s 80th re-establishment anniversary was also celebrated.
The event was dedicated to freedom, democracy, and the resolute fight against anti-Semitism. In her welcoming address, State Parliament President Ilse Aigner emphasized that Jewish life in Bavaria must be protected and strengthened, and she honored Charlotte Knobloch as a “Jewish Bavaria.” It was an honor for me to be able to accompany this moving evening with the camera.
